Like a Kid Again
According to their website, Just Born acquired the Rodda Candy Company of Lancaster, PA in 1953. Rodda Candy invented the Marshmallow chicks that we all know as PEEPS®. While they were originally made by hand—taking almost 30 hours to create—they are now mass produced in about six minutes. I am not a big fan of PEEPS® myself, as I can't get past that sugary coating, but I can understand why so many love this sweet treat.
In April 2019, My employer introduced me to the PEEPS® Diorama Contest. I had no idea this existed! The first contest was held in 2004 and has been growing strong ever since. Just do a quick Google search and you will see how many people around the world partake in various PEEPS@ diorama contests. It was a really fun to see how creative my coworkers could be. The experience forced me to think outside the box (or literally inside the box) and feel like a kid again. I am positive I made a diorama at least once in my life in school, but could not say for sure. This was a good way to be innovative and get myself off the couch and away from the television.I work for a genealogical society, which inspired me to base my creation on the PBS show Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. My diorama came in fourth place in my office's contest, not too bad for my first one since grade school. Check out the slide show below of “Finding Your Peeps.”

Have you made a PEEPS® diorama? If so, would love to know what your theme was.
