The 100 Day Project 2024

Art

This was my sixth year participating in #The100DayProject which means that since 2019, I have completed a total of 600 drawings or works of art. Of course, I have created pieces outside of the challenge itself, but when I think of it....600 is a lot. I never thought I would be able to accomplish one of these challenges, never mind six of them! Now, if I could just give up sweets for 100 days...that is the real test.

Doing The 100 Day Project has been beneficial for me personally—not only do I feel a sense of accomplishment—year after year the challenge encourages me to try new things. Since I have dementia in my family, learning something new is very important for me as it's great for brain health. According to the Alzheimer's Association, "Mentally challenging activities, such as learning a new skill, adopting a new hobby or engaging in formal education, may have short and long-term benefits for your brain. To keep your mind active, it is important to participate in activities that expose your mind to new topics."

This time around, I decided not to follow a specific theme as I didn't want the pressure. I ended up just going with whatever I felt like doing each day. In addition to the project itself, I simultaneously embarked on virtual painting classes, and took a stab at portrait drawing. As you will see below, there's a lot of variation with my art this year.
